Topic List
Start by having students choose 2 or 3 items of interest from a list of environmental topics about which the instructor has enough knowledge to assess student work. If possible, offer a wide range of choices to appeal to diverse student interests. Here’s a sample list:
- Salmon fishing in the Pacific Northwest
- Coral reef conservation
- Global warming – Can nuclear power be the answer?
- Estrogen mimicking compounds in the environment
- Light pollution and its effects on sea turtles
- Amphibian declines – what’s the problem and what can be done?
- Are desalination plants a good solution for water-strapped communities?
Kendra is interested in marine biology, so she picks topics a, b, and e. |
