Catalog DescriptionSL 200S - Introduction to Service in Multicultural Communities - 4 credits
Seeks to foster the development of self-reflective, culturally aware, and responsive community participants. Students gain hands-on experience, knowledge, and skills about local communities and community organizations. Students learn how to work with communities sensitively, and to participate in multicultural community service settings. Requires a minimum of 30 hours of community service work, in addition to class time, during the semester. Each section has a specific service theme. See current course schedule for details.

Directions to log onto Planner Web:
Step 1: Open your Web browser to: http//infoserver.csumb.edu
Step 2: Click on Planner Web and then on the button: STUDENTS: Click on logon
Step 3: At the prompt, enter your Student ID and then your
Banner PIN (A six digit number)
Step 4: At the Main Menu, click on the link Service Learning Students to navigate to the required Service Learning Forms.
If you have forgotten your Banner PIN, email banner_pin@csumb.edu. Include your Student ID and birth date. If you are having other problems logging in, call Technology Support Services at 582-4357.
The one you have to fill out at the beginning of the semester is the:
Service Learning Placement Form on Planner
The Service Learning Placement Form provides the Service Learning Institute with accurate information about your Service Learning placement. On this form, you are required to (a) select your placement site from the list of pre-approved Community Partners that appears in the drop-down box; or (b) input the relevant information on your site, if it is a new Community Partner. This form becomes the official record of your service learning placement for the semester.The one you have to fill out at the end of the semester is the:
Student Evaluation of the Service Learning Experience on Planner
This form gives you the opportunity to evaluate the effectiveness of your Service Learning experience. The feedback you provide on this form will assist the Service Learning Institute in improving the Service Learning program at CSUMB. Completing this form is mandatory for all Service Learning Students.
